As 56 communities of various faiths, we most certainly have a range of beliefs, practices and religious traditions. But we also share a common to love, support and defend LGBTQ+ people wherever they may be, but here within the Baltimore metropolitan region.
For each of our communities, we believe that an individual’s response as to how one experiences the presence of God in their lives, is deeply personal and often unique to them.
As such we strongly oppose any effort by any one religion to impose its views and religious requirements on others. We oppose therefore the very notion of “Christian Nationalism” with, among other things, its overtly homophobic hate-filled philosophy, and in fact see its beliefs and goals as being, not only as far from the ideals of Christ as one can get, but also as far from the founding principles of these United States of America. We will therefore oppose with all our strength, as God gives us the strength, any effort to establish any form of theocracy in this land.
We urge all our civic leaders and our religious leaders to join us in opposing the use of the person of God and God’s revelation as a tool of oppression and persecution of those with whom they disagree.
